They are electrical machines that transform an electric current into a rotating mechanical work. This rotation can be applied to different accessory elements to carry out work such as compressor, pump or transport system, among others.

They are a large part of the electric machines that can be found in any industrial process. In industries that handle fluids or gases, they are mainly found as pumps or compressors, while heavy or mining industries are at the heart of material transport systems.

The majority of industrial rotary machines work with 4 poles, 3 more neutral phases with a voltage of 400v between phases and a voltage of 230v between phase and neutral, with a triphasic supply of 400v.

The starting and working speed control can be controlled directly through a star-Delta electrical scheme, starters or have a frequency variator or inverter, allowing a more precise control of the starting operation of the machine.

Being able to detect in advance the deterioration of assets and schedule maintenance intelligently, being carried out at the appropriate time.

Major failures

Motor overheating

It can be due to its work in overload, working long time above its design characteristics, or by unbalance between phases or work a voltage less than the expected excitation voltage. In the latter two cases, motor slippage may occur by increasing its temperature, but also by decreasing its working performance and generating vibrations that can destroy the machine if extended over time.

Shorts

The internal insulating components of the motor may be damaged, in the face of a bad connection in terminals, or when a current is much higher than the nominal, current that exceeds the insulating capacity of the internal components of the engine.

Constant leakage from current to ground

This can cause an electroerosion effect on the iron of the motor and thus distort the electromagnetic field of design, causing the engine to be erratic. The deterioration in the iron of the motor is irreparable and it involves the disposal of the equipment and its corresponding substitution.

Detection

Knowing the condition of the rotating machine is key to effective maintenance and maintaining asset performance.

Measurement

Having continuous machine status and alerts that indicate the need for maintenance helps to avoid unwanted downtime, saving thousands of euros in lost production, unnecessary maintenance or destruction of assets.
